I’d really like to bring your attention to this incredibly exciting project from Penned in the Margins. Edgelandia brings focus to people and places in the slightly forgotten, out-of-the-way areas in the UK.
I was lucky enough to be asked by one of the contributing artists, Emily Oldfield, to provide one of my shots for her exploration of Winter Hill (as shown in the image above). It’s taken from one of my favourite spots on the moor, Dean Mills Reservoir.
Please do have a read of her Winter Hill Diaries – they’re thoughtfully written and as beautifully poetic as they are compellingly informative.
‘When Julia first reached out to me with some very kind words about my Winter Hill Edgelandia project and sharing her own insight of the place, I was struck by her passion as well as appreciation of the landscape. This is demonstrated even further in her photography – images which express not just a moment but over an intimate sense of location and situation. I was delighted and very grateful to use one of Julia’s photographs as the header image for one of my project posts… it certainly draws the eye and evokes atmosphere in a unique way. Thank you Julia!’
